Savenda Farms – a division of the SAVENDA Group – is dedicated to enhancing Zambia’s agricultural sector. We support Zambia’s food security by investing in sustainable farming practices, industrializing the agricultural value chain, and empowering local communities.
With over 50,000 laying hens, Palabana produces 45,000 trays of eggs monthly, supplying both local and regional markets. Additionally, the farm grows fresh produce such as potatoes, cabbages, carrots, onions, and tomatoes for Lusaka’s supermarkets. Palabana Farm also supports biodiversity, housing game animals, including zebras and impalas.
In Chibombo, we grow commercial maize and soybeans within the Lukanga swamps, with plans to expand into paddy rice. The farm also produces seasonal vegetables like tomatoes, cabbages, cucumbers, and watermelons.
In Shibuyunji, Savenda Farms has developed 1,500 hectares for the cultivation of commercial maize, soybeans, common beans, and vegetables. This location also includes seven fish ponds stocked with 68,000 fish, producing 25 tonnes of fish annually to meet Zambia’s high demand. By 2021, we aim to increase these ponds to 20 and expand to fish cages along the Zambezi River for an additional 20 tonnes of fish per cage.
To meet Zambia’s food security needs and drive agricultural growth, Savenda Farms is expanding across multiple fronts:
Soybean Oil Processing: A new plant with the capacity to process 40 tonnes of soybeans daily will soon yield six tonnes of refined oil. By-products from this process will support our poultry feed production.
Wheat Production: Plans are underway to develop 1,200 hectares for wheat farming, with an adjacent milling plant to process 200 metric tonnes daily. This supply will produce 50,000 loaves of bread each day for sale through our bakery and to local markets.
Banana Plantation: Starting with 63 hectares in southern Zambia, we are growing a large-scale banana plantation set to expand to 1,000 hectares.
Bee Farming Project: In Isoka District, we’re cultivating 80,000 hectares for beekeeping, introducing thousands of hives and establishing an EU-certified honey purification plant. This initiative will train local beekeepers and generate economic opportunities within the community.
Savenda Farms is dedicated to transforming Zambia’s agricultural landscape by bolstering food security, promoting local production, and fostering sustainable community growth. Through strategic initiatives in poultry, crop, and fish farming, we are building a diverse agricultural portfolio that reduces Zambia’s reliance on imported foods while providing consistent, high-quality produce for Zambian households. We proudly bring our fresh produce, including vegetables, eggs, and fish, to local farmers’ markets, connecting with communities and offering nutritious food options directly to consumers.
Our commitment extends to empowering local farmers by aggregating small-scale production, helping them compete in larger markets, and investing in community infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, clinics, and healthcare facilities. To further support farmers’ success, we are establishing free agricultural advisory centers across our farm locations, offering guidance on efficient farming techniques, fertilizer application, pest control, and crop management. Through these integrated efforts, Savenda Farms aims to build a resilient, self-sufficient food ecosystem that uplifts Zambia’s agricultural sector and strengthens rural communities.
